In a joint initiative with City Development Ltd (CDL) and Building Construction Authority (BCA), RSP is honoured to be the first architecture firm involved in a virtual/remote Temporary Occupation Permit (TOP) inspection for a commercial project in Singapore. As a test bed for industry wide adoption, virtual TOP inspection is set to revolutionise the construction industry by saving time and manpower.
In December 2023, our Executive Director, Sonny Chionh, together with RSP architects, Charlie and Karen Ho, joined Goh Lianguo from CDL, Kenny Loh from Sunray Woodcraft and KC Ho from OpenSpace at RSP’s ongoing A&A project in City Square Mall to observe and learn the process of virtual inspection. Using a 360-degree camera stick, KC did a site walkthrough to record the surrounding of the construction area and showed the team how the results appeared on his mobile within minutes.
"Virtual TOP inspections mark a significant milestone in our industry, being a part of the process aligns with RSP's commitment to innovation and efficiency. By embracing new initiatives, we aim to transform the construction landscape, streamlining processes and maximizing resources for a more sustainable future."

Compared to a physical inspection, virtual TOP can be done through laser scans and high resolution 360-degree photo captures. Inspection comments and construction progress can be easily recorded and uploaded digitally and can be seen in real-time. According to Edgeprop, this will reduce the time and manpower required for inspections by up to 30%.
