[WATCH] All 7 Episodes of RSP x Capital 958 城市频道’s “Let’s Explore Season Two” Series on Interesting Architectural Buildings in Singapore

Nearly two years after its initial season, RSP has once again collaborated with Singapore Chinese news entertainment radio station, Mediacorp CAPITAL 958 城市频道, to produce a series on fascinating architectural buildings in Singapore. Seven episodes have been released between March and April 2025, highlighting even more iconic Singaporean spaces and their various features.

RSP has continued to follow our philosophy “Design Meets Humanity”, delivering designs where cultures and communities thrive. We are thrilled to revisit architectural landmarks completed by the RSP team, while exploring with audiences the considerations in designing buildings that are sustainable and accessible.

Follow series host, Capital 958 DJ 胜扬 Sheng Yang, Honorary Secretary of Singapore Building Materials Suppliers Association Kenny Lim and our architects in the enthralling video series below:

EPISODE 1: SINGAPORE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (SIT) PUNGGOL CAMPUS COURT

Kicking us off, our Senior Associate, Jocelyn Yong takes DJ Sheng Yang and his co-hosts on an exclusive tour of Singapore Institute of Technology’s (SIT) Punggol Campus Court, home to Singapore’s largest private microgrid and Southeast Asia’s first Multi-Energy Microgrid (MEMG) on a university campus.

The campus employs Passive Displacement Ventilation for the auditorium and lecture theatres with naturally ventilated group learning spaces. In addition, the canteen block is built using MET (Mass Engineered Timber) which is a greener material than typical steel and concrete. These key features redefine sustainability in campus spaces.

We started the season strong, with this episode garnering over 300,000 views!

EPISODE 2: HENDERSON WAVES

The next episode covers Henderson Waves, an all-too familiar urban icon, and the tallest pedestrian-bridge in Singapore! Director Gabriel Chen and Associate Director Ong Junlin take DJ Sheng Yang and his co-hosts to uncover the design ideation behind this award-winning landmark.

Inspired by the undulating forms of nature, Henderson Waves flows organically in seven wave spans, seamlessly connecting hills and parks within the Southern Ridges. It is both a social infrastructure and a destination in and of itself, a feat achieved by implementing a highly precise design based on mathematical formulas while minimising the ecological impact of the bridge.

EPISODE 3: BIRD PARADISE

In our third episode, DJ Sheng Yang visits Asia’s largest bird park at Mandai’s Bird Paradise. RSP Associates Samantha Wong and Ashley Yong guide Sheng Yang and our audiences across immersive habitats and facilities that cement Bird Paradise as the optimal destination for avian enthusiasts and families alike.

The park comprises eight enclosed aviaries each housing a diverse range of avian species, that allow for up-close encounters with the birds. There is also a separate non-enclosed aviary that houses predatory and endangered avians in cages. Among the highlights of Bird Paradise is the iconic Penguin Cove, a three-story building meticulously designed to provide temperature-regulated enclosures for the resident penguins.

Watch this week’s video to learn more about the inclusive and accessible features littered across the bird park, highlighting how the architecture has been intricately designed to be inclusive and accessible to families and visitors of all abilities.

EPISODE 4: EAST COAST PARK REJUVENATION

In the fourth episode, RSP Associate, Madeni Jais and Senior Executive (Architectural), Tiong Sing Ning, bring DJ Sheng Yang to three sites along Singapore’s longest beach, East Coast Park (ECP, namely Coastal Playgrove, Raintree Cove, and Cyclist Park.

Completed back in 2021, the ECP Rejuvenation project redeveloped three nodes along East Coast Park, consolidating experience for parkgoers while promoting health and social activities within a larger community. Here, the RSP team capitalised on the scenic environment and open vistas to the sea, designing buildings to promote natural lighting and ventilation.

EPISODE 5: CAPITAGREEN

Our fifth episode follows our Head of Business/ Executive Director, Law Yoke Foong, as she brings DJ Sheng Yang right into the green heart of Singapore’s CBD at CapitaGreen!

A game-changer in sustainable office buildings, a large portion of CapitaGreen is covered with living green plants to reduce heat gain. Furthermore, a unique wind funnel on its rooftop channels cool air through a “Cool Void”, naturally cooling the building to lower energy consumption.

EPISODE 6: GRAND HYATT SINGAPORE

On our second-last episode, DJ Sheng Yang visits Grand Hyatt Singapore, accompanied by our Director Gabriel Chen and Executive Engineer, Lim Mei Yi.

Once a striking concrete landmark along Scotts road, recent addition and alteration (A&A) works have refreshed the hotel’s appearance, transforming Grand Hyatt Singapore into a modern and luxurious space. Yet, a closer inspection of the architecture evokes memories of its former timeless character. This episode has surpassed 100,000 views, alluding to strong curiosity towards the transformation of this memorable landmark.

Grand Hyatt Singapore’s sustainable design features earned the hotel the BCA Green Mark (Platinum) certification in 2022.
