RSP Highlights Sustainable Architectural Design and Global Solutions at FIND – Design Fair Asia

Last week, our Director Constance Tew and Senior Associate Jocelyn Yong were invited to speak at FINDDesign Fair Asia, Asia’s Premier Event for furniture, interiors and design. There, they shared on global design solutions and sustainable architectural design respectively.

Held during Singapore Design week, FIND – Design Fair Asia connects top industry professionals with global manufacturers, brands and suppliers over a shared appreciation for excellent design. During its three-day period, the exhibit hosted over 14,000 attendees, 300 exhibiting brands and 60 speakers.

"Sustainable design is about creating spaces that inspire today and endure for generations to come. Using SIT as a model, we want to promote eco-friendliness in design planning where we ensure that future projects are always green and practical. We are building for a future where every project creates a more sustainable future."

The first day of FIND – Design Fair Asia was held on 26th September, where Jocelyn presented with three other panellists. Together with Eugene Yap, (President & Chairman Hotel & Restaurant Association of the Philippines (HRAP), Alessandro Marzucchini (Technical Director, MMC Lead of Ramboll) Tan Szue Hann, (Head of Sustainability and Director of Sustainable Urban Renewal at Keppel), Jocelyn shared her insights on the topic, “Sustainable Solutions at All Scales: Building, Community, Regional, Global.”

During her speech, Jocelyn presented on the importance of implementing sustainable architectural design. Using the newly completed SIT Punggol Campus Court as an example, Jocelyn discusses how RSP implements sustainable architectural design, such as incorporating solar panels and Mass-Engineered Timber (MET) in the food court.

On the last day of the fair, Constance was up first as keynote speaker, presenting on hospitality and workplace design. To a full turnout, she discussed her inspirations for the interior design projects she worked on. She also showed off RSP’s portfolio of hospitality projects, including RSP Dubai’s Nobu Hotel and Branded Residences and RSP Vietnam’s Binh An Village Resort.

After her keynote speech, she joined Angela Spathonis (Managing Director of Gensler Singapore), Claudia Nam (Director of DP Design) and Cedric Jaccard (Partner and Creative Director of Avalon Creative), Jake Tan (Director of Admira Pte Ltd) and Gordon Lee (Director of Singapore and Expor Markets AkzoNobel Dulux) in a panel discussion titled, “Design Without Borders – Global Influences and Local Applications”, organised by the Society of Interior Designers, Singapore (SIDS).

"Attending the Keynote Session at FIND - Design fair last week, both as a speaker and participant is a life-enriching experience. I had a captive audience to share our experience and works. At the same time, I get to hear from veteran designers share about not just what they have done but also how they do it. It is a rich learning for myself, as well."
