RSP Projects win two Prix Versailles Awards at UNESCO

Announced each year at UNESCO since 2015, the Prix Versailles is a series of architectural competitions that shine a light on the finest contemporary projects worldwide.

At the intersection between multiple disciplines, the members of the Prix Versailles World Jury are tasked with awarding twenty-four World Titles from among the Selected Sites – in the categories of Airports, Campuses, Passenger Stations, Sports, Museums, Emporiums, Hotels and Restaurants.

The Official List – which pays tribute to innovation, creativity, reflections of local heritage, ecological efficiency and the values of social interaction and participation, which the United Nations holds in high regard – is in line with the principles of intelligent sustainability, taking the projects’ ecological, social and cultural impacts into consideration.

“Dialogue and interconnections between the different aspects of the human environment – from ecology to social relations to culture – pave the way for intelligent sustainable development. More than a mere goal, this offers a wonderful promise of the ability to meet the latest challenges facing the world today.”

RSP is proud to announce that two of our projects—NTU Gaia and Changi Airport Terminal 2 Expansion—won two awards from this year’s edition of the Prix Versailles prize. Designed with Toyo Ito & Associates, Architects, Gaia won the top prize for the World Campuses category. Meanwhile, Changi Airport Terminal 2 Expansion, developed with BOIFILLS Architecture, won the Special prize for an Interior under the World Airports category.

“It is an honour to win the Prix Versailles award for Gaia. The award reflects the team’s dedication to create beautiful and thoughtful spaces sustainably for the end-user. Thank you to Prix Versaille’s global jury for bestowing Gaia with this prestigious award, which inspires us to continue striving towards design excellence and innovation.” Shared RSP Senior Associate and Gaia project lead, Loh Kee Soon. Many times during my journeys, people would have asked for my nationality and I would have described Singapore as a sunny island located like a tiny red dot on the map. Like a proud parent, I can now shout out that we have one of the world’s most beautiful airport! Call me patriotic or whatever, I am just honoured to be the architect contributing to nation building. The world sees and recognizes excellence in human centric design. Thank you for the party topper for my 20 years in RSP!” Shared Head of Business and Executive Director and project lead, Law Yoke Foong.
