Wang Dan Li: Continuously Learning to Become a Better Engineer

“Electrical engineering allows me to engage in every project stage, from concept to completion, giving me a comprehensive view of the construction process. This is a key reason why I chose this path.

At SM, I am surrounded by like-minded people and supportive leaders who encourage growth. The company’s focus on cutting-edge technology creates the perfect environment for engineers to thrive.

I have learned to approach problems methodically when faced with challenges: review past results, engage stakeholders, and dig deeper to find root causes and solutions. It is a demanding process that requires organisation, technical knowledge, and wisdom. These are skills you develop through experience.

If there is one takeaway I hold close, it’s this: Never stop learning. Whether mastering new skills, diving into unfamiliar fields like “zero carbon,” or staying curious about emerging technologies, continuous learning has been key to my growth as an engineer. Every challenge overcome makes me better, both professionally and personally.”
