Join RSP at Singapore ArchiFest 2025!

RSP will be participating in a variety of activities for Singapore ArchiFest (SGAF) this year, from interesting workshops to architectural tours and exhibitions organised for both architects and the wider community!

The 19th iteration of SGAF, organised by the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA), aims to celebrate architecture and the built environment through a plethora of events from 25 June to 25 July 2025. The festivities will begin with a three-day conference, followed by a fringe festival, SGAF+, which includes various eye-opening public programmes.

This year’s theme, “Don’t (Just) Think Like An Architect” positions architecture as a dynamic force shaping lives, communities, and our future. By breaking the moulds in which we design and build, we explore how architecture can evolve and transcend its usual limit.

ARCHITECTS ROUNDTABLE

Our Head of Business/ Executive Director Law Yoke Foong will be participating in the Architects Roundtable, one of the key highlights of the SGAF conference.

Held on the last day, this meaningful event brings together over 60 local architects to share their personal narratives in celebration of Singapore’s diamond jubilee. It takes on a unique theme of unbuilt projects, allowing for rare insights on the creative processes of Singapore’s architects and an alternative vision of Singapore’s skyline.

With a wealth of experience and a treasure trove of projects close to her heart, we are certain that Yoke’s stories will be as fascinating as they are meaningful. Members of the public can attend ArchiFest for free on day 3!

Date: Friday, 27 June 2025
Time: 9am – 6.30pm
Location: Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Hall C, Level 1

KATONG- JOO CHIAT INSTALLATIONS

Another key highlight of the festival are novel installations designed by Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) students together with RSP and SAA Architects. Located along Katong-Joo Chiat neighbourhood, these will serve as lively gathering places for public visitors and the local community from 28 June to 25 July 2025.

“Rejuvenating the historic corridor of Katong-Joo Chiat invites us to imagine the new possibilities that may emerge. I believe these Spaces of Possibility hinge strongly on creative collaboration between many minds.

The work at Katong began with the In-Between Katong Studio in 2024, realized by a partnership between URA and SUTD, and ran by Andrew Lee (SAA Architects), Lee Tat Haur (TAT Architects), Yeo Kang Shua (SUTD) and I. This year, I ran a follow-up, the Wild Katong studio, that built upon the learnings from In-Between Katong Studio but focused on micro-scale installations.

The spirit of collaboration extends from Agency to Academia to Practice, connecting young designers with architecture firms and events like Archifest. I am deeply grateful to our industry collaborators, including IHG, Mercure Hotels, and Roxy MCST, as well as Archifest Festival Director Rene Tan and the RT+Q team for the incredible support.” Shared Teik Rong.

These installations build upon Katong-Joo Chiat’s rich heritage and architecture, and are supported by Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) in partnership with SIA, as part of larger efforts to encourage more engaging public spaces in Singapore.

SUTD students designed and curated the installations as part of a studio study led by RSP’s Associate Director Khoo Teik Rong. Two projects from the students’ final review were further developed and submitted in collaboration with the two firms.
