CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust (CICT) has announced a major S$160 million asset enhancement initiative for Plaza Singapura and The Atrium@Orchard. RSP is appointed as Project Architect and Civil & Structural (C&S) Engineer for the project, working alongside Lead8 as Design Architect. The redevelopment will be carried out progressively from Q3 2026 to Q4 2028, with both developments remaining operational throughout the construction period.
A New Chapter for Orchard Road Retail and Public Space

Located along Orchard Road and directly connected to Dhoby Ghaut MRT station, Plaza Singapura and The Atrium@Orchard form a key integrated retail and commercial node within Singapore’s civic and shopping district.
The upcoming revamp aligns with the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s broader vision to enhance Orchard Road as a more pedestrian-friendly, experience-led urban corridor, including expanded green networks and improved public realm connections around Istana Park.
Key Design Enhancements

The redevelopment introduces a series of spatial upgrades aimed at strengthening the connection between architecture, landscape, and urban life:
- A redesigned Level 1 Orchard Road frontage with new all-day dining concepts set within landscaped environments
- A refreshed facade strategy at the Handy Road drop-off point, drawing inspiration from natural geometric forms
- Upgraded basement retail linkages connecting to Dhoby Ghaut MRT station, with an expanded mix of experiential retail offerings
- Conversion of existing sky bridges at Levels 3 and 5 into “floating gardens” with integrated dining and social spaces
- A refreshed tenant strategy focused on experiential retail, entertainment, and thematic dining
These interventions collectively reposition Plaza Singapura as a more immersive lifestyle destination while reinforcing its connectivity within the Orchard Road precinct.
Continuing a Long-Term Architectural Relationship
RSP’s involvement with Plaza Singapura dates back to the 2012 facelift, where we contributed as architects and engineers to the earlier phase of rejuvenation.
