STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT TO CREATE A DEMENTIA-FRIENDLY SPACE

Stakeholders such as the elderly and their caregivers gave inputs on the furniture, materials and colours during the design phase, resulting in a comfortable, familiar and forgiving space.

AN ACTIVITY AND DROP-IN SOCIAL SPACE

Reunion houses reminiscing tools for seniors to interact with. Facilities include an immersive memory room, a collection of songs of different genres and languages, and a handling collection of various artefacts.

A BALANCE BETWEEN OLD AND NEW

To achieve a homely atmosphere in the formal-looking colonial facade, designers introduced modern reinterpretations of rattan and bird-singing cages into the space. Artworks from the museum’s William Farquhar Collection of Natural History Drawings is also included.
