Sonny Chionh

Executive Director Singapore

Sonny Chionh has more than 20 years of architectural project experience in the design, coordination and implementation of large and medium-sized projects across the education, healthcare, residential, civic, hospitality, offices and retail sectors.

With a wealth of notable award-winning projects under his belt, such as Westgate, Funan, Holiday Inn Express Clark Quay, Grand Park City Hall Hotel’s rejuvenation, Sonny is sensitive to the varied requirement of projects, and can meld users’ needs with the site context.

Sonny is passionate about driving sustainability in the built environment. Specifically, he is concerned about the huge drivers of carbon emission – energy consumption and embodied energy. In designing buildings, he advocates a sustainable approach by pushing for the use of clean energy and maximise any potential reuse of material, while balancing pragmatism.

He believes in the unconditional sharing of knowledge and the need to imbue all in the industry. Sonny frequently shares his experience and expertise on sustainability and universal design at various industry forums.

Sonny is also RSP’s Quality & Environmental Manager, focused on driving ISO and best practise for quality and environmental approaches within the firm. He is a Registered Architect with the Board of Architects in Singapore and a member of the Singapore Institute of Architects. He graduated with a Diploma in Architectural Technology from Singapore Polytechnic and with Honours in Bachelor of Architecture from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
