Gabriel Chen

Director, Architect
Singapore

As RSP’s Design Director, Gabriel has been one of the key principal designers for many of the firm’s award winning projects such as the Holiday Inn Express Clarke Quay, LASALLE College of the Arts, ION Orchard and Dover MRT Station. He has over 30 years of architectural experience in leading major projects in Singapore and other cities such as London, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai and Shanghai.

Gabriel sees the design process as a conscious act of enabling and making critical observations, encouraging improvements to enrich the users’ environment. The built environment is only as good as the activities and happenings that are enabled by design. He is constantly interested in the outcome of each project he was involved in, as life begins when the project completes. The continual observation become important by-product in itself, and yet critical design tool over time.

With a passion in nurturing the next generation of architects, he is an advocate of knowledge-sharing and is constantly mindful of the value of his guidance on them.

A registered architect with the Architects Registration Board (UK) and a chartered member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (UK), he holds a Bachelor of Art in Architecture and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Liverpool, UK.
