Al Rajhi Bank Headquarters
Saudi Arabia

Al Rajhi Bank Headquarters is Riyadh's G+44, 203m Tower with Sleek Design and Abundant Amenities.

Rising 203 meters with 44 floors, Al Rajhi Bank HQ has become a signature feature in Riyadh’s skyline. The goal was not just to build a landmark or a state-of-the-art office tower. Instead, the design aimed to create a symbol representing both the Al Rajhi Brand and a modern Saudi Arabia. The project called for a design with a clear identity and strong focus. It integrates with the urban fabric by offering a vibrant public realm and ample public amenities.

Furthermore, the tower’s design draws from the regional context. Specifically, the use of four monolithic piers or cores which shield the crystalline glass tower from harsh weather. These cores house essential services such as lifts, toilets, MEP spaces, and staircases, keeping the floor plates open and flexible.

ALIGNING WITH MECCA

The prayer hall forms the building’s spiritual and architectural heart. Elevated 50 meters above ground, it twists gracefully toward Mecca. This alignment honors the sacred direction. Moreover, the hall’s dynamic shape enhances the tower’s visual impact. It symbolizes a blend of tradition and modernity. The prayer space is bathed in natural light, creating a peaceful and reverent atmosphere for worshippers.

PAYING HOMAGE TO HISTORY

Al Rajhi Bank Exterior

Four towering concrete columns anchor the tower. They reference the ancient monuments found across the Middle East. These massive stone pillars symbolize strength and endurance, providing structural support. At the same time, they create a link between the region’s rich history and the modern design. The materiality and form of these columns blend traditional influences with contemporary architecture.

THE ARCHITECTURE

Al Rajhi Bank Architecture

The Arabian Peninsula’s rugged landscape inspired the architecture. The tower’s base features an exaggerated twisting face, resembling the opening of a gorge. This “gorge” leads to an oasis, represented by the lobby, which floats on a water body.

The design abstracts the unique setting of mountains, wadis, deserts, and isolated oases. The tower comprises four monolithic cores surrounding a transparent office space. This layout protects internal areas from harsh climate conditions.

As a landmark, the architectural language had to inspire and communicate iconic values. The glass cube offers a flexible floor plan that allows maximum adaptability. It creates a clear, transparent working environment with panoramic views of Riyadh.

CRAFTING AN OASIS

Juxtaposing the harsh desert climate with an internal lush sanctuary. Meanwhile, the interior design language used throughout the Al-Rajhi tower maintains a minimalist, corporate style. It features a palette of grey, white, dark blue, and black. The Al Rajhi pattern appears at multiple scales and on various surfaces.
